Valentina and Voces del Sur

Valentina grew up outside her native homeland, after the 1973 coup in Chile. She settled in Scotland on meeting guitarist David Russell at the Edinburgh Festival. Together they founded Voces del Sur, making their debut at the legendary old Bongo Club in Edinburgh.

Valentina writes and sings songs of exile, love and social change, inspired by tango and folk music traditions from Latin America. With her guitar and cuatro she creates a style that is very much her own, with a powerful stage presence and voice to match. David, a talented Scottish guitarist and sound engineer, adds his diverse musical background to Valentina’s work.   They have performed  on various BBC radio programmes, as well as many festivals and major venues throughout the UK.   Apart from touring the UK, Valentina and Voces Del Sur have played in Mexico, Chile, Portugal and Greece.
